Building Application Process

Please note that for all commercial projects, a meeting with the building inspector is required prior to application. Please call the office to discuss any potential commercial projects.

Application

To receive a building permit the forms below must be turned into our office.

An aerial photo of the property showing where the structure will be located and the distances from the property lines must be submitted with the application and affidavit.

Encroachment Permit

For new & existing private access/driveway entrances off State and County roads, Please provide with applications for new residential and garage permits.

On-Site Sewage System

An on-site sewage disposal system site evaluation must be conducted by the Hardin County Health Department prior to the issuance of a building permit for all dwellings or structures with plumbing.

Plans

If a residence contains 2,000 square feet or more under roof (including attached garages and covered decks), a set of construction plans must be provided for review. All commercial projects require a plan review. Please see the commercial application packet for building plan requirements. 

Once a permit is issued, the owner or contractor must contact our office to schedule the appropriate inspections.
